CoD: Warzone And MW3 Season 2 Puts Rick Grimes In The Battle Pass, Plus New MP Maps And Modes
Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone arrives on February 7. Activision's latest blog has revealed the content arriving with the big update, including a new battle pass, more weapons, and a crossover with The Walking Dead. Here are all the major announcements for Season 2.
This new season is themed around zombies and The Walking Dead. Later in the season, players can participate in the The Walking Dead: Fear the Living event to earn new cosmetic rewards. The event will run from February 28 to March 6.
Players who purchase the premium pass can instantly unlock the Rick Grimes operator skin, and Michonne arrives later in the season as a store bundle. Additionally, Modern Warfare 3's Kate Laswell is also getting her first operator skin with this new battle pass.
Four new weapons are included for the season. The BP50 assault rifle and RAM-9 submachine gun will arrive in the free tiers of the battle pass, while the SOA Subverter battle rifle and the Soulrender melee weapon can be earned later in the season. Seven more aftermarket parts were announced as well.
Warzone's Fortune's KeepWarzone's popular Fortune's Keep map returns in Season 2, bringing the new Ranked Play Resurgence mode. Ranked Play will launch shortly after the start of the season, and it will feature similar rules, skill divisions, and rewards as previous years of Ranked Play. The mode is played in Resurgence trios and exclusive to the Fortune's Keep map, but Call of Duty's blog confirms this is just the first playlist for competitive play, and a standard battle royale playlist should arrive in the future.
Fortune's Keep returns with slight structural changes and new gameplay features, including a limited-time contract to eradicate zombie nests, Zombies-themed power-ups, extendable bridges, and a new score tracker detailing a team's squad wipe streaks.
On the multiplayer side, Season 2 adds several maps to the game: Stash House, Vista, and Departures as three standard 6v6 maps that arrive at launch, and Operation Tin Man is a new map for the game's large-scale War mode.
Later in the season, a remastered version of Vanguard's popular Das Haus will arrive, and Skidrow and Terminal will receive Zombies-themed variants for the Vortex multiplayer mode.
Season 2 roadmapFive game modes are announced for Season 2: At launch, players can jump into Team Gun Game, Snipers Only, Hordepoint. Later in the season, a brand-new game mode will arrive called Juggermosh, which is described as a third-person-perspective variant mode with all players equipped with juggernaut suits for a mix of Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint modes.
A new vest is added for players' loadouts. The Ninja vest is available at launch, and it can be equipped to eliminate footstep sounds, provide immunity to movement reduction effects, and provide additional supply of lethal throwing equipment. Additionally, Season 2 includes a new season of Ranked Play and rewards.
The Season 2 Zombies update includes a new Dark Aether story act and Dark Aether Rift to unlock, more schematics to grind for, and a new warlord boss to fight. Unfortunately, all of the announced additions are scheduled for the midseason update, so Zombies fans will need to wait a little longer for new content.
With Season 2 arriving next week, this is the last chance to earn rewards in Season 1 Reloaded's ongoing event for The Boys.
