Halo TV Show Made A Huge Mistake With Master Chief Having Sex With Makee, Star Says
Master Chief had a romantic storyline and even had sex in Season 1 of the Halo TV show, and that was a "huge mistake," according to Master Chief actor Pablo Schreiber. He said in the newest issue of SFX Magazine that the relationship between Master Chief and Makee (Charlie Murphy) was a bad idea that he fought unsuccessfully to stop.
"The decision to make the connection between Makee and John a romantic connection was a huge mistake," Schreiber said (via GamesRadar). "I felt it was a huge mistake at the time and I argued against it and fought against it. But I am who I am. I don't write the scripts. I only give my opinion. It wasn't listened to."
Plenty of Halo viewers did not enjoy this storyline either, and the sex scene specifically irked some because Cortana herself was standing by watching.
The Halo series returns in February for its second season. Joseph Morgan (The Originals) and Cristina Rodlo (Too Old to Die Young) join the cast for Season 2, playing the roles of James Ackerson and Talia Perez, respectively.
The showrunner for Season 2 is David Wiener (Flesh and Bone, Fear the Walking Dead), who took over from Season 1 co-showrunners Kyle Killen and Stephen Kane.
For Season 1, the Halo show reportedly cost $10 million per episode, making it one of the more expensive TV shows ever produced. A budget on that level puts it close to Game of Thrones.
In addition to Schreiber, the returning cast includes Natascha McElhone, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Kate Kennedy, Murphy, and more. If you're just catching up on the Halo TV show, every episode in Season 1 is streaming for free on YouTube.
