Apple Vision Pro Will Have 3D Disney Movies And Entire Disney+ Catalog
Apple and Disney have announced a partnership to bring content to the Apple Vision Pro headset, including 3D movies and the entire Disney+ catalog.
People who buy the $3,500 headset and have a Disney+ membership can stream every piece of content on Disney+ to the "spatial computer" device. Additionally, there are four "Disney+ environments" featuring unique animations and sounds that users can tap into. These aim to make your living room "feel alive," and these environments also have nods to iconic Disney franchises.
A first look at the Disney+ app on Apple Vision ProThese environments include (descriptions written by Disney):
- The Disney+ Theater, inspired by the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
- The Scare Floor from Pixar's Monsters Inc.
- Marvel's Avengers Tower overlooking downtown Manhattan.
- The cockpit of Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder, facing a binary sunset on the planet Tatooine from the Star Wars galaxy.
Users can also view 3D movies with Apple Vision Pro, and the launch titles include Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental, and Encanto. More will be announced later on. Anyone who previously bought a Disney film that includes a 3D version from Apple TV can access that in 3D on their Apple Vision Pro.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said this partnership with Apple is part of the company's ambition to seek out new ways to "entertain, inform, and inspire."
Apple Vision Pro preorders open on January 19, ahead of the headset's launch on February 2. In addition to movies, users can play video games using the headset. A cheaper model of the Apple Vision Pro is also said to be in development.
