Those steel chair shots to the head killed Chris Benoit

September 09, 2007

Yep, the poor guy is still being investigated as of press time.
And although the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is still refusing to even utter a single word about the death of Chris Benoit (yep, they’re actually pretending as if Benoit did not exist these days…) doctors are still investigating what brought Benoit to kill his wife and child before hanging himself.
Recent findings say that Chris Benoit may have severe damage to the brain after suffering numerous concussions throughout his career in pro wrestling. Doctors say that’s probably why he killed himself and his family.
You see, taking chair shots to the head is a fan favorite in pro wrestling. Wrestling fans always wait for that moment when a wrestler will pick up a steel chair (for some reason, always found underneath the ring…) and bash the opponent’s skull until it cracks open and blood is spilled.
Brutal, yes. But apparently, the viewers like it. Hell, they even have sledgehammers and baseball bats wrapped in barbed wire now so I guess you can say steel chair shots would have to be the ‘’safest way to bash an opponent’s head in.”

2007 F1 Season returns to Monza, Italy for Italian GP

September 09, 2007

The first of the final five races of the season begins when McLaren, Ferrari and the rest of the top constructors of the game collide on Sunday.
As of press time, McLaren-Mercedes, despite all the controversies surrounding them and the now infamous Stepneygate scandal, is lording over the rest of the pack as far as the best team in F1 is concerned. They lead the constructors’ championship standings with 163 points, ahead of rivals Ferrari, who has 137.
And yes, it’s all because of their two drivers, rookie Lewis Hamilton and two-time F1 world champion, Fernando Alonso. Although the two teammates are no longer on the same page this 2007 F1 season, they are still the best two drivers in Formula One these days and nobody can tell them otherwise yet.
Lewis Hamilton, despite missing the podium twice in his last three races, still leads the F1 championship standings with 84 points. Not far behind is his two-time champion teammate, Fernando Alonso, who now has 79 points, after he took advantage of his teammate’s blunders the last three races, getting to the podium in two of them.
Fernando Alonso has already made it clear that he no longer wants to be in McLaren. Yes, rumors about a return to Renault and a reunion with Renault boss Flavio Briatore began to come up although Alonso, at his point of the season, still refuses to…

This is why they are not Vince Young?s Texas Longhorns in this 2007-08 NCAA College Football Season

September 09, 2007

One, because Vince Young now plays for the Tennessee Titans in the NFL. Two, because if Vinnie was still playing for Texas, he’ll cream the Indians.
That was not the case last Saturday when the Texas Longhorns hosted the Arkansas State Indians. To say that the Longhorns had somewhat an embarrassing and ugly end to their contest against the visiting Indians could very well be an understatement.
Oh yeah, with the Michigan Wolverines already becoming the first victim of a horrific upset in the early stages of the 2007-08 NCAA college football season, the Texas Longhorns ALMOST became victim number two.
For all ya’ll who missed it, yes, the No.5 ranked team in the country today, that’s the powerhouse team of the Michigan Wolverines, was defeated by a lowly team of the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 34-32, after the Mountaineers’ Corey Lynch blocked a 37-yard field goal try by Michigan to get the improbable upset.
How’s that to start the season eh?
As for the Texas Longhorns, they almost fell to an embarrassing loss themselves, if it wasn’t for an onside recovery that helped them avoid that same sick feeling those Wolverines must be…

Scandal in France - Italy Euro 2008 Qualifier

September 09, 2007

Remember the ”Zinedine Zidane head-butt” that ended France’s chances of winning the 2006 FIFA World Cup?
Apparently, both France and Italy still remember it so well that they can’t help it but generate some controversy already heading to their Euro 2008 qualifier this Saturday at the San Siro stadium.
For one, France head coach Raymond Domenech is suspended for this Saturday’s fixture between the two rival countries. Domenech was suspended for the Euro 2008 qualifier for accusing Italy of fixing an Olympic qualifying match that happened eight years ago.
And just because Italy probably provoked France’s Zinedine Zidane to unleash a vicious head-butt to Italy’s Marco Materazzi during the World Cup final that virtually let the Italian contingent celebrate with the 2006 FIFA World Cup title, the France head coach decided to tell all of us about something that happened for almost a decade ago.
”The hype surrounding this game doesn’t surprise me. The memory of July 9 is still within all of us,” Italy forward Alessandro Del Piero said, recalling the date last year when Italy beat France on penalties in the 2006 FIFA World Cup final.
France currently leads these…

The Timeless Appeal of Big Money Gambling

September 05, 2007

There are many ways to gamble, and in some ways, getting out of bed in the morning qualifies as quite a gamble in itself. But it is the casino, the racetrack, the poker tournament, the bingo parlor and the slot machine most people think of when they think about gambling.

There is no doubt that gambling has a timeless appeal, and chances are there has been gambling for as long as there have been activities to gamble on. From the earliest horse races to modern football games, it seems there has always been gambling for big money in our lives.

Vince Young probably feels the Madden curse now

August 19, 2007

Whether you admit it or not, you know you’re just waiting for new Madden cover boy Vince Young to fuck up this season.
In case you don’t know it yet, Madden cover boys ALWAYS fuck up in the same year they decided to become the cover athlete of the somewhat cursed video game franchise, Madden NFL Football. And with Vince Young gracing this year’s Madden game, that probably means he’ll fuck up this coming 2007-08 NFL football season.
With that said, check this out. Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was BENCHED for the very first time in his career since making his first start with the team as a rookie last Saturday when they lost to the Washington Redskins, 14-6, in their preseason opener.
For some reason, Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher decided not to play the explosive second-year quarterback despite the clamor for him by the fans who paid tickets just to see the young phenom.
Last Saturday was suppose to be the first time they’ll be seeing Vince Young play on the football field again since leading the Tennessee Titans to an 8-8 record in his rookie year last season. Yep, they were anxious to see how much did the Longhorn legend improved in the offseason. Thanks to Fisher, all they saw was…

MLB Umpires will call a Strike if you?re a White Pitcher

August 19, 2007

So, what about Boston’s Daisuke Matsuzaka? Do they consider him white too?
He he… Yep, there’s now a study that reveals MLB baseball umpires call strikes more for Caucasian pitchers than they do African. This is a study conducted by a team of one Daniel Harmermesh, a professor of economics at the University of Texas. (Who probably doesn’t know squat about baseball…)
Hamermesh’s team analyzed the calls on about a whopping 2.1 million pitches thrown in the Major League between the 2004 and 2006 MLB baseball seasons.
Controlling for all other outside factors, such as the pitcher’s tendency to throw strikes, the umpires’ tendency to call strikes and the batter’s ability to attract balls, researchers found evidence of same-race bias, and the data revealed that the bias benefits mostly white pitchers.
After all, 71 percent of MLB baseball pitchers are white while a whopping 87 percent of the umpires are… yep, white too.
The highest percentage of strikes were called when both the home-plate umpire and pitcher were white, and the lowest percentage were called between a white ump and a black pitcher.
Also according to the study, minority umpires judged…

Jason Giambi is a SNITCH and MLB Baseball likes it

August 19, 2007

Yep, New York Yankees slugger Jason Giambi is a SNITCH.
For all ya’ll who don’t know, Jason Giambi was one of many who used steroids in hopes of someday, becoming the next Barry Bonds and have all sorts of home run records on that diamond.
Well, the New York Yankees star confessed to all them steroids use, hell, he even helped the league in tracking down all the other MLB baseball players who use the illegal performance-enhancing drug.
And because of his somewhat insincere assistance to the league, (probably to save his own ass…) MLB commissioner Bud Selig won’t be slapping Giambi any disciplinary action whatsoever in this 2007 MLB baseball season for his steroids use.
”It’s over and done with. I’m thrilled with it. He did what he needed to do, now I can go forward,” Jason Giambi said. ”I can go forward and not hurt the ballclub with a suspension.”
Commissioner Bud Selig said, ”he’s doing a lot of public-service work, and I think that’s terribly important. I think it’s more important for…”
